Gretchen Wagner

Zebrafish Core Facility Manager


Gretchen Wagner grew up on a dairy farm in a small town called New Hamburg, Ontario. She moved to Halifax to attend University at Dalhousie, and is currently working on her Undergraduate degree majoring in Marine Biology Honours Co-op program and minoring in environmental studies.

Gretchen has joined the Berman Lab as part of her Co-op degree as a Zebrafish Technician and will be responsible for the Quarantine room in the lab. Her main responsibilities include caring for and maintaining the zebrafish populations, including regular fish duties, breeding the various fish strains found within the lab and screening the embryos produced.
She will be joining the lab as an Honours student in the upcoming winter semester in 2013.

When she isn’t busy taking care of the zebrafish Gretchen enjoys playing soccer, scuba diving, guitar/ukulele, and travelling. She is enjoying the time she has spent in the lab so far.
